MAXIMISE YOUR WINTER WORKOUT WITH ADRIENNE'S TIPS
Make fitness fit Make fitness part of your everyday lifestyle, rather than something on your to-do list. For example, walk rather than drive the kids to school and, if they have scooters, put on your trainers and jog alongside them.
Focus on how you’ll feel afterwards One of the best things about HIIT is the feeling after you do it – you get a real mood boost. Winter can make us feel sleepy and lethargic, but HIIT gets your blood pumping so you can face the day with energy.
Mix it up If you’re not feeling inspired to work out, try a new gym class, a new running route or even just download a new playlist.
Add music Music is motivational. Make different playlists for whatever you’re doing, like jazz and funk while cooking, relaxing tunes for stretching and a power playlist for working out. Discovering new artists is inspirational and can motivate you to start something new.
Support other women Work out with your friends. See them become fitter, stronger and more confident. It will motivate you to keep going and you’ll inspire and look up to each other.
Make your exercise regime time effective High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is really time effective because just a 30-minute workout will burn tons of calories.
Talk it out If something is stressing you out, talk it through with someone and get another perspective. Don’t get trapped in your own head. A quick chat can make you see things totally differently.
Give yourself time off Don’t feel guilty about chilling out. We have such busy lives that sometimes you need to take a day off. This can give you the motivation you need to keep things going.
Invest in good training gear Good gear is key. What you wear needs to have strong technical elements – fabric that breathes and absorbs the sweat, and materials that moves with you – as well as looking good.
If you never try, you’ll never know This is one of my life mottos. I think it’s really important to give things a go and be brave sometimes. If you fail, you’ll get over it, but at least you won’t always wonder what could have been.
